Viscose Rayon Fibres
Viscose rayon is made from natural sources of cellulose fibre such as wood and plants. The molecular structure of the natural cellulose is preserved in the process, meaning that the resulting fibres can be used to imitate the feel and texture of natural fibres such as wool, silk, cotton, or linen.
As viscose rayon is produced from naturally occurring polymers, it is defined as a semi-synthetic fibre. It usually has a high lustre quality giving it a bright sheen.
Short cut viscose fibre is commonly used in applications requiring moisture absorbency, like nappies, or for applications that require volume, such as lash lengthening mascara.
Viscose rayon is also commonly used in the production of standard and speciality papers. As the material is 100% biodegradable, it is globally accepted for use in environmentally friendly applications.
Although the material is biodegradable, it is also extruded, making it extremely consistent and reliable. It has been used in oil well drilling operations to replace non-biodegradable synthetic fibres.
Precision cut viscose rayon fibres
Our short cut viscose rayon is often used as an eco-friendly alternative to nylon as a bulking agent and for viscosity control. It is excellent for increasing volume and dispersion very well in liquids and gels.
We offer short cut viscose rayon fibres in the following sizes:
- 0.95 decitex
- 1.70 decitex
- 3.30 decitex
- 28.00 decitex
Milled viscose rayon fibres (flock)
Milled or powdered viscose rayon is most commonly used in the production of paper and packaging but it is also often used in filtration, hygiene, and oil well drilling applications. Viscose rayon flock is also a popular choice of material because it is 100% biodegradable and eco-friendly.
We offer powdered viscose rayon in the following sizes:
- < 500 microns
- 500 – 1000 microns
