Polyester flocks are used in the reinforcement of rubber formulations and provide improved initial modulus, compressive strength, bending stiffness and tear resistance.
Short cut aramid fibres and flocks are widely used as
reinforcement and process aids (pre-form production)
in friction products where high temperature and wear resistance are important. Aramid fibres are also used by gasket and seal manufacturers for use in aggressive environments.
Natural fibres and fibre flocks such as cotton, hemp and other cellulosic-based fibres are increasingly used to reinforce products in a growing number of applications. Many global companies looking for less reliance on oil based synthetic flocks where precision cut lengths are less critical are investigating the use of an environmentally acceptable alternative.
Goonvean Fibres offers a polyethylene flock for use in a variety of applications including filtration, sealants, paints and rubber compounds.

Acrylic fibre flock is a polyacrylonitrile fibre used as an alternative to asbestos for the manufacture of brake pads and clutch plates. The fire resistant properties of the material also make it an ideal choice in intumescent applications such as paints and sealants.

Polyacrylonitrile (PAN) is a synthetic resin prepared by the polymerisation of acrylonitrile. A member of the important family of acrylic resins, it is a hard, rigid thermoplastic material that is resistant to most solvents and chemicals, slow to burn, and of low permeability to gases. PAN fibre is therefore used in many different applications where these attributes are specified.
